French Egyptian Revival mantel clock and garniture set, late 19th - early 20th C., slate with etched gilt border decoration, variegated red marble, and bronze, on stylized monopodia feet. The architectural form chime clock, decorated with seated sphinxes, columns, urn finials, and a female bust in a gallery, features a gilt Roman numeral dial surrounded by an egg and dart bezel and pull out winding mechanism all behind a glass door. The urn form garnitures are decorated with repousse panels depicting bacchanalia, double handles, fluting, acanthus leaves, and bud finials. Retailed by Bailey, Banks, and Biddle.
