Sketchbook/Notebook kept by Violet Oakley (1874-1961) and titled on cover in manuscript ink "CAUX--1949--3", is spiral bound and measures 7" x4.75" and contains 10 pencil and pen & ink sketches as well as 68 pages of notes (most in ink). Oakley and Emerson attended the World Assembly for Moral Re-armament that was held in Caux, Switzerland in 1949. It was here that she wrote the foreword to her book "The Holy Experiment: Our Heritage from William Penn, 1644–1944". Several pages exhibit some looseness/tearing at holes near spiral wire. Several pages present autographs of other attendees to this meeting. Provenance: Violet Oakley/Edith Emerson
