This estate auction features a variety of antique furniture, artwork, rugs, and other decorative items from an older home. Furniture highlights include several antique chests of drawers in styles such as Chippendale, Hepplewhite and Federal. An antique Queen Anne drop leaf dining table with tiger maple chairs and a JB Vansciver games table provide dining spaces. Upholstered seating ranges from a camel back sofa to Federal and Hepplewhite chairs and a unique buggy seat. Lovely artwork has been collected for this home over the years, including pastoral landscape paintings, rural winter scenes from artists like Walter Emerson Baum and Frank English, still life paintings from Clara Kolb, and reverse glass paintings in folk art style frames. An 1801 needlepoint sampler by Sarah Boxall and a printed 1806 birth record round out the folk art offerings. Antique rugs are found throughout the home, including Persian carpets and runners, a Caucasian rug, and a Two Grey Hills Navajo weaving. These provide classic style underfoot in living spaces, bedrooms, hallways and the kitchen. The kitchen holds a wonderful collection of redware pottery by regional folk artists like Lester Breininger and Ned Foltz. Stockbridge Valley and Mercer tileworks are also represented. A set of horn beakers, early 20th century chrome ware, and a Rogers silverplate tea set may have graced the dining table. Sterling silver takes the spotlight in this sale, with full flatware sets by makers like International, Alvin, and Stieff ranging from Edwardian to mid 20th century place settings. Serving pieces and trophies are marked by Gorham, Whiting, and other names. British sterling and coin silver flatware and hollowware also appear. Smalls like sewing accoutrements, porcelain dresser boxes, enamelware, and woodenware will interest collectors, as will the art pottery, Parian figures, duck decoys, metalwares, and baskets.
