Starts Oct 17, 2024 10:00 AM EDT

This exciting two-day auction event offers a wide array of items for collectors and enthusiasts across multiple categories. Day 2 Features Asian Art and Global Treasures This auction showcases an impressive collection of Asian art and global treasures, featuring a diverse range of items from Chinese jade and snuff bottles to Haitian folk art and European sculptures. The Chinese offerings are particularly noteworthy, with several exquisite jade pieces taking center stage. Natural jade bangles, some dating back to the Qing era, demonstrate the enduring allure of this precious stone. A selection of intricately carved nephrite censers and urns further exemplifies the skill of Chinese artisans. Porcelain enthusiasts will appreciate the variety of Chinese wares on offer. Blue and white pieces from the Qing dynasty, including ginger jars and vases with traditional motifs, sit alongside more colorful Famille Rose and Rose Medallion examples. A highlight is an early Qing Famille Verte rouleau vase depicting a dragon and phoenix in flight. The auction also features an extensive collection of Chinese snuff bottles, showcasing various materials and techniques. From inside-painted glass bottles to carved jade, malachite, and cinnabar examples, these miniature artworks offer a glimpse into the refined tastes of Chinese nobility. Japanese art is well-represented with Meiji era cloisonné pieces, including vases and a tray attributed to notable artists. Satsuma pottery bowls and vases, some by recognized makers like Kinkozan, demonstrate the exquisite craftsmanship of this period. Moving beyond Asia, the auction includes a significant selection of Haitian folk art paintings. Works by artists such as Gerard Fortune, Andre Normil, and Prospere Pierre-Louis capture the vibrant culture and landscapes of Haiti. View our Blog "Vibrant Visions: Exploring the Rodale Collection of Haitian Art" European items add further diversity to the sale. Notable pieces include etchings by Rembrandt van Rijn, Louis Icart, and Edgar Chahine, offering collectors a chance to acquire works by these master printmakers. Sculptures from various cultures round out the offerings. A monumental Senufo bird sculpture from West Africa stands as a testament to African artistic traditions, while bronze pieces by contemporary artists like Thomas Wargin bring a modern aesthetic to the auction. This auction presents an opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts to acquire pieces that span continents and centuries. From delicate Chinese snuff bottles to bold Haitian paintings, the range of items reflects the rich tapestry of global art and craftsmanship.
