https://www.facebook.com/share/1FkVxFyzGT/?mibextid=wwXIfr Lewis Lanza Rudolph (1949–2012) was a New Jersey artist known for his abstract paintings and drawings. A native of Red Bank, Rudolph began painting as a teenager and studied at the Art Students League of New York before serving in the U.S. Army in Europe in the early 1970s. After returning to New York, he continued his studies and increasingly devoted himself to abstraction. His work was exhibited in New York and New Jersey, including at the Trenton State Museum and galleries in New York City. A private and increasingly reclusive artist, Rudolph continued painting for decades even after largely withdrawing from the exhibition circuit. Following his death in 2012, his family discovered hundreds of works stored throughout his Red Bank home. His substantial body of work ranges from early figurative and landscape studies to large, heavily painted abstractions, reflecting influences associated with artists such as Pablo Picasso, Willem de Kooning, and Max Weber while developing a distinctive visual language of his own.
