45-70, 32 1/2" bbl, SN 587686 (circa 1892/93) Antique. Dark brown patina with heavy frost texture and oxidation, poor rough bore, Buffington rear sight, side of breech marked with VP over eagle head, breech block markings are not visible, cleaning rod bayonet, barrel held via 2 steel bands with springs, the front band anchors the steel sling loop and stacking loop while the front trigger guard leg anchors the rear sling loop, strong lock with 3 click tumbler holds all 3 positions, lock plate marked with spread eagle and shield holding 4 arrows and olive branch, with US over SPRINGFIELD, butt trap holds empty brass shell with a extra front sight blade sealed with a piece of cork, woodstock shows average handling with dents and scratches with a nice clear script cartouche dated 1892 on the left side of the wrist and areas of spot refinishing. 13 3/8" LOP, 4 1/2 lb trigger pull. Good condition.
