Vintage Japanese instruments: Japanese Gekkin or "moon guitar." Neck and headstock in the traditional Ruyi scepter and mushroom form. Combination of wood, jade, reptile skin, mother-of-pearl and natural materials. Shows previous surface top repair and in need of some fret work. Japanese Biwa stringed lute. Mix of wood and natural materials. Approx 36" in length. Top is separating on the RH side facing. Possible 17th-18th century. Neck, body and headstock joints are in nice and tight. Ceremonial Japanese drum. Double sided. Natural skin drum heads with painted yin and yang motif.
