Civil War Starr carbine in .54 cal with 21" round barrel presenting brass barrel band and buttplate. Lockplate stamped in 2 lines"STARR ARMS CO. / YONKERS, N.Y.". Barrel stamped lightly"STARR ARMS CO. YONKERS, N.Y." with receiver tang stamped in 2 lines"STARR'S PATENT / SEPT. 14th 1858". Carbine is serial numbered"3036" under forestock. Left side of stock presents lightly stamped ordnance inspector's cartouche. Metal surface exhibits some of the original bluing and casehardening. Wood exhibits some light abrasions.
